Six patients with IHSS of Severance Hospital Yonsei University from January 1963 to, June 197 were studied, and the results were as follows:
1. All patients were male. The age distribution was between 21 and 49 years with mean. age of 34 years.
2. Clinical ´manifestations ; were as followings in frequency exertional dyspnea in 5, palpitation in 4, ´ dizziness in ´2, and syncope in 1.
3. Grade II´ to. 19 ejection systolic murmur were heard on LSB and apex in all cases. Third heart sound was audible in 1 and 4th heart sound, in 3. 4. EKG showed QS pattern, left atrial enlargement and LVH by voltage in each 3.
5. Carotid pulse tracings revealed early rapid peak in 3 and pulsus bisferience in 5 cases. Valsalva maneuver increased the murmur intensity in 2.
6. On cardiac catheterization there were systolic pressure gradient between LV apex and LV outflow tract by 13 to 60mmHg in LVEDPs were elevated mildly in 2.
7., Left ventriculography were performed, which showed obstrictive pattern such as inverted cone shape on LV outflow tract. Mean. LVEDV was 54.7ml/mz and ejection fractions were´increased in 4.
8. Echocardiography was done in 1, which de monstrated -SAM and asymmetrical hypertrophy of interventricular septum.
